Educate your patients about their hair replacement options

When a cancer patient is told that they will have to undergo chemotherapy, the first thing many of them think about is how they will handle losing their hair. The old adage that "knowledge is power" is certainly true in this regard. Unfortunately, many medical professionals have very little insight to offer their patients about how to cope with losing their hair during treatment. Because you care about your patient's well-being and you know that a positive emotional state is an important factor in recovery, you may want to help your patients with their questions about their hair loss and just don't know how.

Provide them with literature they can take home that will help them cope with their hair loss. You'll likely be recommending literature about their condition or treatment, so this literature should go right along with that. Remember that a brochure might be helpful, but literature that offers real guidance through the process is most important.
